SEO for Name Changes

A lot of consultants and small business owners are one and the same with the name on their government ID. In the United States, if you start selling products or services using your legal name, you're automatically considered to be a sole proprietor.

But what if your legal name no longer represents who you are?

You deserve to be known by the name you choose

And your business visibility shouldn't suffer.

Just because you started your business under your assigned name doesn't mean you need to stick with it. If you've changed your name to one that is better aligned with your gender identity, you may qualify for a free one-hour SEO consultation.

What this consultation covers:

☑️ Establishing where and how you need to update your name across the internet in order to keep your business brand consistent.

☑️ A rundown of best practices for making this type of change across online assets, including but not limited to redirecting web pages.

☑️ A review of what kind of impact you may see in terms of SEO, whether there will be a dip, and how long you can expect to take to bounce back.

☑️ Any other SEO questions you may have that can be discussed during the time allotted for the conversation.

You may be eligible for this free consultation if:

☑️ You currently conduct business with a brand name that is the same as or includes your full original legal name (i.e. "Julie Smith Consulting," not "JS Consultation Group")

☑️ You work as a sole proprietor / sole trader or have another company structure set up using your legal name (i.e. "Julie Smith LLC") and only do business under your name.

☑️ You are legally changing your name to something different that better aligns with you as a person and plan to conduct business under that name (i.e. "Julie Smith Consulting" becomes "Edward Smith Consulting.")

☑️ You are not able to legally change your name but plan to file a DBA/fictitious name that is the same as the moniker you use socially/personally and will conduct business under this name (i.e. "Julie Smith Consulting DBA Edward Smith Consulting" or "Julie Smith LLC DBA Edward Smith").

This isn't for you if you're:

🚫 Turning a nickname into a legal name (i.e. Dorothy "Dottie" Jones legally becoming "Dottie Jones").

🚫 Changing your surname due to marriage.

🚫 You're changing your name but you don't use your name in your branding at this time (i.e. Julie Smith runs "Trusted Education Consulting LLC" and operates under that brand alone before and after changing their name to Edward Smith).

However, I'm still happy to work with you as a standard SEO consulting client!
